Thank you for visiting the Georgia DECA Foundation website today. Our mission is one of fundraising to support Georgia DECA students and Chapters having financial needs to participate in an internationally recognized youth self-development and leadership program. We are a 501C3 corporation whosetax deductibledonations come from corporations, chapters, advisors, students, and folks like yourself. Our distributions go directly to Georgia chapters and students through our ASPIRE Fund and do not support the day to day operations of Georgia DECA.
Georgia DECA is a state Chapter of DECA, a 70 year old established association with over 225,000 high school students in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and 6 countries around the globe. Georgia DECA's high school membership this year to date stands at 12606 students in 152 school chapters across the state. These numbers will continue to increase due to an expansion program into various middle schools who become "buddy system" participants to the high school in their respective districts. Georgia is still fourth largest state chapter in DECA world-wide, and two of its local chapters, South Forsyth and West Forsyth, continue to be #1 and #2 in terms of total membership numbers globally.
The DECA International Career Development Conference(ICDC) comes to Atlanta April 21-26 with 16-17000 attendees from around the globe. Georgia DECA completed its state conference in February and over 600 students qualified for international competitions. In addition, another 200-250 students have registered for various Learning Academies. The Georgia contingent including teachers and chaperones should approach 1000.
An integral part of this conference is having local business employers donate volunteer time for a day or so, to evaluate student presentations. These represent the culmination of student project work in over 60 subject areas, and winners will receive over $500,000 in scholarships from national corporate sponsorships. Over 1000 judges are needed and as of this writing, over 750 have registered. Would you have some time to invest in tomorrow's leaders? If so, the greatest need is on Monday, April 23rd and here is the registration link: www.deca.org/volunteer. We hope to see you there and the experience is very rewarding. It's at the World Congress Center in Atlanta and meals and parking are provided.
Please take a few moments to look over our site for further insights as to who we are and how we help those participating in the Georgia DECA Program. We are thankful for the continued support of our current “Friends of Georgia DECA” while looking to develop new relationships. Your inquiries are welcome and my e-mail contact is below. Donations are always welcomed using "Donate" button at top of page. Thanks again for your time, consideration, and potential investment in tomorrow’s leaders.
